Internationally Educated Medical Laboratory Technologists (IEMLT) Credential Assessment and Education Bursary Program
On July 19, 2022, the Province of British Columbia announced $4.5M in bursary funding to support high priority internationally educated allied health professionals (IEAHPs) that want to work in BC’s healthcare system. This program is administered by Health Match BC (HMBC) and is designed to retain allied health professionals in the public sector. HMBC acts in an advisory capacity to support IEAHPs throughout their journey to practice in British Columbia (BC), Canada.
As of November 1, 2025, to work as a medical laboratory technologist (MLT) in BC, IEMLTs must meet the education, clinical experience, and entry to practice competency requirements managed through the Canadian Alliance of Medical Laboratory Professionals Regulators (CAMLPR) Flexible Pathways program.
HMBC, in partnership with the BC Ministry of Health (MoH), will support eligible IEMLTs who want to work in BC by offering financial support to help cover the costs of account creation, the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), English Language Proficiency (ELP) assessment, required bridging courses outlined in the CAMLPR Education Plan, and travel subsidies. These supports are expected to be available in February 2026.
Please check back regularly for updates — registering with HMBC is encouraged to stay informed.
* Please note: If you are an IEMLT who initiated the process with the CSMLS and have a CSMLS application history recognized by CAMLPR’s CSMLS to CAMLPR Transition Guide, please contact our team directly at alliedhealthjobs@healthmatchbc.org.
